Fledge’s work supporting vulnerable young people has been recognised by the High Sheriff of Hampshire. Rev’d. Sue Coleman, the County’s High Sheriff for 2020-2021 visited Fledge’s office in Eastleigh in October and, following her visit, has chosen the Charity to be the recipients of a Community Award. The citation which accompanied news of the award stated that Fledge had been “going above and beyond the call of duty to help those in need in our local communities”. Commenting on the honour, Fledge Business Operations Manager Nerissa Dean said “It was a great pleasure to welcome Rev’d Sue Coleman to our offices in October and to explain the work we undertake providing accommodation and support to homeless and vulnerable young adults in the Borough of Eastleigh. The High Sheriff’s award is a wonderful and humbling recognition of the incredible hard work and commitment of our wonderful staff team and the leadership of our dedicated Board of Trustees, particularly during the past year as we have worked through the challenges posed by the pandemic.” Covid-safe arrangements for the presentation of a Certificate marking the award are expected once restrictions permit.
